The U.S. Direct Selling Association (DSA), in its 2021 Growth & Outlook Study, reported a predicted growth between 4%-7% for the channel in 2021. With this forecast, direct selling retail sales are expected to reach between $41.7 billion and $42.9 billion, a record high for the industry.
The Direct Selling Association (DSA), the national trade association for direct selling companies, held its annual Capitol Hill Initiative virtually this year, allowing independent direct sellers to attend congressional meetings through video calls.
The association emphasized its commitment to business ethics, consumer and salesperson protection, as well as self-regulation for the entire direct selling channel. The DSA also reinforced that it requires all DSA members to adhere to its stringent DSA Code of Ethics, which prohibits pyramid schemes and false or misleading income claims.
AS DIRECT SELLERS and other businesses begin the careful process of emerging from the limits of the last eighteen months, the Direct Selling Association (DSA) is also starting to cautiously shift toward a more in-person world after 18-months of virtual advocacy and education interaction.

The Direct Selling Association (DSA) announced its support of the Preserving Direct Seller Independence Act of 2021 H.R. 5038. The legislation introduced by Representatives Tim Walberg and Henry Cuellar would “clearly define direct sellers as independent contractors under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) consistent with the Internal Revenue Service Code.”
