The World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (WFDSA) announced the results of the year ending December 31, 2020. Total global direct sales reached $179.3 billion and grew 5.8 percent year-over-year (with the exception of China, which increased 2.3 percent).
The industry’s global sales force of independent representatives and distributors grew 4.3 percent year-over-year to 125.4 million people, including 65 million who are actively working to build a full- or part-time career and income.
The WFDSA points to the increased use of online resources and video meetings as a key driver of increased sales and distributor growth during the isolation of the pandemic.
China, which had challenges during the pandemic, also continues to recover from the lingering effects of unrelated 2019 government restrictions on meetings, while significant inflation in markets like Argentina compounded the challenges of 2020 even further.
