Last month, Beautycounter Founder Gregg Renfrew announced that she was buying her company back from private equity firm Carlyle Group. Following a $1 billion sale in 2021, Renfrew exited the company’s executive team in 2022 before being asked to return as CEO in January.
As part of her purchase, Renfrew announced that she would wind down Counter Brands, LLC, Beautycounter’s holding company, as she created a new entity that retained the brand’s name and assets as well as its well-known formulations and products. Operations were expected to pause for a period of two weeks before officially relaunching May 1.
In a statement, however, Renfrew announced that the new company is now expected to launch in late 2024. In the meantime, Beautycounter products will continue to be available for purchase at Ulta retail stores through July and indefinitely at Ulta.com.
