When Gregg Renfew, the founder behind clean beauty brand Beautycounter, sold her company and controlling stake to private equity firm Carlyle Group in 2021, she described the experience as akin to winning the lottery.
Last month, Beautycounter Founder Gregg Renfrew announced that she was buying her company back from private equity firm Carlyle Group. Renfrew announced that the new company is now expected to launch in late 2024.
Beautycounter founder Gregg Renfrew, who sold her company to the private equity firm Carlyle Group in a $1 billion dollar deal in 2021, has purchased the clean beauty line this week. Renfrew exited the company’s executive team in 2022, remaining on the board of directors, before returning as CEO in January.
Beautycounter announced it is extending its mission of clean, safe product development to the fragrance market.
