Beautycounter founder Gregg Renfrew, who sold her company to the private equity firm Carlyle Group in a $1 billion dollar deal in 2021, has purchased the clean beauty line this week. Renfrew exited the company’s executive team in 2022, remaining on the board of directors, before returning as CEO in January.
Beautycounter announced it is extending its mission of clean, safe product development to the fragrance market.
Beautycounter, known for its clean beauty products, has launched a text action campaign to advocate for key changes to the Food and Drug Administration Safety and Landmark Advancements Act.
Beautycounter continued its advocacy efforts in the charge to seek cosmetic reform during two days of virtual lobbying with key Senators and Representatives. Joining the beauty brand were members of the company’s Scientific Advisory Council and a group of businesses led by Beautycounter who work together to pass health-protective laws in the beauty industry, called the Counteract Coalition.
