Mary Kay Inc. awarded grants totaling nearly $10,000 to five high school students who presented projects focused on finding cures for cancers affecting women, sustainable packaging innovation and environmental protections at the Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Los Angeles.
Grant recipients include:
- First Prize: Keshvee Sekhda and Nyambura Sallinen
IdentiCan: An app utilizing AI technology to identify cancerous tumors with 99.6% accuracy - Second Prize: Madalena Filipe and Frederico Mauritty
HidroQapa: Creating sustainable, biodegradable materials from crustacean shells, helping to reduce waste and environmental pollution - Third Prize: Carolina de Araujo Pereira da Silva
Rock the Metals: Investigating how manganese and metal transporters affect cancer cell behavior
