Vantel Pearls Founder Joan Hartel Cabral announced her retirement publicly this week after announcing to the brand’s affiliates last week that the company would also be closing.
Vantel Pearls was established in 1986 and launched into the direct selling channel in 1990. The founding idea for the company came from a vacation in Hawaii where Cabral received the gift of an oyster with a pearl inside and wanted to share the wonder of that moment with others.
The metaphor of the pearl formed within an oyster in the face of adversity was a metaphor Cabral often pointed to as she led the business, citing obstacles as an opportunity to embrace “transformational opportunities.”
Cabral describes the more than 30-year-old company as “thriving” and thanks her consultants and staff for their accomplishments and efforts to empower women.
