Herbalife released its 2026 Asia Pacific Health Culture Survey analyzing health awareness and barriers for consumers across Asia Pacific and Taiwan. More than 10,000 people across 11 markets took part in the study, which included regions within Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
Almost nine out of ten participants from Taiwan reported concerns about their personal health and preventative care, and more than 65% reported a willingness to invest more resources in their health. These statistics place Taiwan as Herbalife’s leading market for overall health awareness within Asia Pacific. The company did state that awareness did not automatically translate to action, and almost half (44%) of Taiwanese respondents stated that a lack of motivation was one of their greatest barriers to good health.
Additionally, 89% of people in Taiwan showed a high level of health awareness, with more than 70% of survey participants saying they now pay greater attention to their health than they did three years ago. Most participants from Taiwan reported getting older (48%) and personal health warnings (43%) as the greatest motivators for taking proactive steps toward managing their health. Weight management was also a concern, with 35% of respondents from Taiwan claiming it as the thing they most urgently needed to improve.
Taiwan consumers reported a preference for nutritional supplements (47%) as their top choice for daily health maintenance, with regular exercise following close behind (46%). Across age brackets, Gen Z consumers cited the most challenges with staying consistent in their health goals, but the company pointed out a potential lack of support and companionship for this younger generation as a potential reason for this gap.
Herbalife offered three core strategies for its Taiwan consumer base seeking to make gradual, steady changes to their overall health and wellness, including:
- Balanced nutrition through simplified daily nutrition intake
- Regular exercise that incorporates small actions into daily life
- Investing in community support that provides positive encouragement
