In a collaboration with New Story, an international nonprofit that builds safe and sustainable homes for people in Mexico, Haiti, El Salvador and Bolivia, eXp Realty raised more than $600,000 to build 100 new homes in Morelos, Mexico. eXp World Holdings Founder, Chairman and CEO Glenn Sanford personally matched contributions with a $300,000 donation.
These funds will now support rebuilding efforts in the region after a devastating earthquake hit Morelos in 2017.
“I am so proud of our eXp Realty agents, brokers and staff for their generosity and support of this life-changing initiative,” Sanford said. “It is rewarding to see the impact of our efforts to provide housing that will transform this community.”
By partnering with New Story, the home construction will use Ecoblocks, a material made from compressed earth that is four times stronger and more affordable than traditional cinder blocks. This approach to the rebuilding process will also support the local economy through locally sourced materials.
