Harper+Scott Earns Prestigious B Corp Certification

Harper+Scott, a design, merchandising and manufacturing studio in New York City and Guangzhou, announced it has earned the B Corporation certification.

The company joins the likes of Patagonia, Eileen Fisher and other Certified B Corps around the globe in trailblazing the global movement of people using business as a force for good.

Certified B Corporations meet the highest standards of overall social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability and aspire to use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. There are more than 2,200 Certified B Corporations in over 130 industries and 50 countries with one unifying goal: to redefine success in business.

According to Harper+Scott, the company’s founders have worked hard to overcome a traditionally wasteful industry by prioritizing design, quality and transparency to create an emotional connection between clients and customers through branded merchandise. Harper+Scott is recognized as one of the top companies in the space and its founders attribute that growth to its team of employees who have been at the center of their success.

The company decided to pursue a B Corp Certification to strengthen its commitment to its employees and founding principles. Through this affiliation, Harper+Scott looks to take on more social responsibility and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of their workforce, community and environment.

“Doing our best wasn’t enough; we wanted to prove to ourselves, and others, that more can always be done,” said Co-Founder and CEO Michael Scott Cohen. “We are proud and honored to join this global movement and look forward to continuing to evolve the way we, and others, do business for the greater good.”

Harper+Scott underwent a rigorous evaluation process by B Lab, the non-profit that certifies B Corps, called the B Impact Assessment. It consisted of comprehensive questions in five Impact Areas (governance, workers, community, environment and customers) that ensured they met the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
