Natura launched The Future P&L, a digital platform designed to help companies measure the impact of their environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives. Free to businesses across industries, the platform wields components of Natura’s own integrated Profit & Loss (iP&L) process, which, in addition to financial results, measures the impact of corporate performance on a variety of ESG initiatives, like carbon emissions and offsetting, circularity, regeneration and conservation of biomes and income generation for its network. For Natura, the iP&L has given the company clarity, and determined that (based on 2022 results) for every R$1 of Natura revenue, the brand has also generated a net return of R$2.7 in benefits to the overall society.
The platform includes an interactive calculator that processes operational data related to a brand’s workforce, suppliers, plastic waste generation and social investment initiatives and applies standard monetary valuation to translate these ESG efforts into financial realities. The result, the company believes, delivers an integrated view of the broader impact and value ESG initiatives provide.
Natura holds a goal of becoming a 100% regenerative company by 2050, and this confidential and practical platform is part of that goal. By helping other organizations measure, manage and expand their positive impact, Natura hopes to inspire investors, stakeholders and leaders to adopt regenerative business practices and spark a global movement that accelerates multi-capital accounting in the private investment sector.
