LR Group, the parent company of LR Health & Beauty, completed construction on its new logistics center in Porschestrasse. The center and adjoining skywalk and viewing platform will offer distributors a glimpse into the company’s packaging and shipping processes, while lighting installations, projects and cinema seats will create what the company hopes will be an immersive and memorable experience.
“The glass walkway connects directly to the skywalk of the Aloe Vera production facility and ‘floats’ just under 3.40 meters above the ground and measures almost 28 meters in length,” said Christoph Maris, LR Group Vice President Operations. “Firstly, the new skywalk allows you to see the automated packaging of the liquid nutritional supplements into cartons which are then stacked on pallets. You can then access the walkway to the new logistics center. Visitors will experience another highlight here, where the viewing platform offers a fabulous view of the almost 3,000 square meter hall.”
With the completion of the logistics center, the company now moves onto the next phase of construction, which includes a new warehouse management system. As the new logistics facility has “linked up” to the organization’s main system, the company has been able to expand its B2C deliveries to include Austria, Switzerland, BeNeLux, United Kingdom, Denmark, Finland, Norway, France, Germany and Sweden.
The goal for these expansion initiatives is to reduce and replace the traditional picking method with the goods-to-person principle that optimizes efficiency without cutting employees, reducing costs and enhancing flexibility and scalability.
“The realization of this project has also enabled us to set the general course for the future growth of the LR Group,” said Dr. Andreas Laabs, LR Group CEO.
An estimated $5.4 million has been invested in the logistics project.
