Amway announced a new regional partnership with UNICEF that will support access for children to nutritious, safe, affordable and sustainable diets in Latin America and the Caribbean.
“In Latin America and the Caribbean, more than 10 million children under five years are malnourished,” said Garry Conille, UNICEF Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean. “Some of these children aren’t getting enough food while others are eating too much of the wrong food. That makes it hard for them to grow up healthy and achieve their full potential.”
Amway’s contribution will be used to increase UNICEF’s capacity of healthcare workers monitoring children’s growth as well as support counseling to caregivers and parents about breastfeeding and infant and young child feeding practices. This partnership will also be used as part of UNICEF’s advocacy efforts to strengthen regulatory policies regarding food environments, labeling and the marketing of unhealthy food and beverages.
“At Amway, our mission is to help people live better, healthier lives,” said Martin Galeazzi, Amway Latin America’s General Director. “This new alliance with UNICEF represents yet another outstanding example of our social responsibility, and a great opportunity to positively impact the feeding practices of children across Latin America.”
