Herbalife Nutrition reported year-over-year net sales growth in the second quarter of 2021 for five of its six geographic regions, with four of the six exceeding 20% growth. India saw significant momentum in the second quarter, growing by 93% compared to the same quarter of 2020, and contributing to the substantial 38% growth in the Asia Pacific region.
Net income for the quarter reached $144.2 million, a 25% increase over the second quarter of 2020, and net sales totaled $1.6 billion, a 15% increase from the same period last year. This is the largest quarterly net sales result in company history.
The adjusted EBITDA for the second quarter of 2021 also broke company records and represented the largest quarterly adjusted EBITDA in company history, at $262.1 million.
“Our second quarter adjusted EBITDA of $262 million was a record for the second quarter in a row, resulting in over $500 million of adjusted EBITDA generated during the first half of the year,” said Alex Amezquita, Chief Financial Officer, Herbalife Nutrition.
Demand for nutrition products contributed to double-digit growth in over 50 of the company’s markets. The Energy, Sports and Fitness category grew 45%, the targeted nutrition category grew 19%, and the core weight management product category grew 12%.
