Plexus recently donated 2,000 of its Breast Chek Kits to Esperança, a global nonprofit that works with families and seniors in Maricopa County to provide health services and education among other resources. The Plexus Breast Chek™ Kits, one of the company’s many health and wellness products, is designed for individuals to easily perform monthly self-examinations to help detect changes in their breasts.
“The Breast Chek Kit was Plexus’ first product and the foundation for our success as we have grown into a global company that is committed to both women’s and men’s health,” said Tarl Robinson, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Plexus. “We are proud to make this donation to Esperança to help women in our community establish healthy habits.”
This donation was made possible by Plexus’ October campaign during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, where the company said it would match each purchase of a Breast Chek Kit during the month of October, with one that would be donated.
On Friday, December 13, Plexus employees delivered the donation of Breast Chek™ Kits to Esperança’s Phoenix office. Esperança executives say they plan to incorporate the donation into their preventative medical care program. “We are so thankful for the generosity of our community partners. The donation of 2,000 Breast Chek Kits from Plexus Worldwide will be used in our domestic programs here in Phoenix, providing a much-needed preventative medical care to our local communities,” said Jeri Royce, President/CEO of Esperança.
According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, adult women are encouraged to perform breast self-examinations once per month. Johns Hopkins Medical Center states that “Forty percent of diagnosed breast cancers are detected by women who feel a lump, so establishing a regular breast self-examination is very important.”
