Health and nutrition company USANA hosted its annual superhero-themed Champions for Change 5K race during the company’s recent international convention, with surgeon, author and television personality Dr. Mehmet Oz serving as master of ceremonies. The race benefits the USANA True Health Foundation, which seeks to relieve suffering around the world by providing critical necessities such as nutrition, shelter and clothing.
The True Health Foundation galvanizes USANA distributors to contribute in sometimes unconventional ways. Among those in attendance at the convention were Chris and Heather H., a couple who cycled 1,700 miles from their native British Columbia to Salt Lake City to raise funds for the foundation.
USANA’s efforts have attracted the attention of leading health expert Dr. Oz, who was on hand to kick off the 5K race and offer encouragement to participants along the way. “To be able to give back is one of the great gifts we have in the world, and when you can help kids, well they are the future and always will be the future,” said Oz.
USANA’s health and nutrition culture begins with the employees at its corporate headquarters. The company earned a spot on Outside magazine’s annual list of “The 100 Best Places to Work” with its emphasis on helping employees maintain work-life balance and a healthy, active lifestyle.
