Plexus Worldwide recently announced that it is donating 1,735 backpacks to several local non-profits focused on helping children thrive.
The donations will benefit local groups that work directly with Phoenix-area children to ensure they have everything they need to start the school year off well-prepared. The donations included:
- 780 to Arizona Helping Hands
- 450 to The Salvation Army
- 200 to Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock
- 200 to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
- 65 to Child Crisis of Arizona
- 40 to Cancer Support Community Arizona
“Many of the employees and Ambassadors at Plexus are parents, so we know how important it is for children to have all the necessary school supplies so they can focus on their studies and get off to a great start,” said Mary Ann Luciano, vice president of Philanthropy at Plexus. “We are so thankful for our non-profit partners which serve our community every day and help us provide aid to vulnerable families.”
Recent surveys show that over 20 percent of children in Arizona are food insecure, which can create challenges and barriers to learning in school. Luciano says that they hope to support these families as much as possible to help students of any background succeed this school year.
Plexus also supports Nourish One®, a one-for-one initiative where one serving of Plexus Lean™ equals one meal for a child or family in need through Feeding America®—the nation’s largest organization dedicated to fighting domestic hunger through a network of food banks. One dollar helps provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks.
