On its mission to “Make People Better,” the team at Nerium International is setting a high bar for charitable giving in 2014. The fast-growing skincare company has made a $1 million fundraising commitment in support of its partner organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS).
BBBS is a volunteer-powered mentoring network that partners children and teens (Littles) with adult volunteers (Bigs). The program aims to help children succeed through positive, one-on-one relationships that have a direct, lasting effect. Over 100 Nerium Brand Partners have partnered with a Little through the organization, and more are currently undergoing the volunteering process.
Amber Olson Rourke, Nerium Co-Founder and VP of Marketing and Culture, says the company’s ambitious goal for 2014 has received positive feedback from Brand Partners. “The response so far has been great!” Rourke told DSN. “We have already raised over $250,000 so far this year. Our Brand Partners believe in making a difference and the power of mentorship, so the mission of BBBS really resonates with them.”
Last year the just-2-year-old Nerium contributed over $400,000 to BBBS. For its efforts, the company earned the prestigious Big Brothers Big Sisters Community Impact Award in June 2013. The award recognizes a donor whose generosity has greatly impacted the community of the mentoring organization.
Nerium uses a variety of avenues to raise funds, including a commission donation program that enables Brand Partners to donate a specified amount from their monthly commission checks. At all of its events, the company includes a BBBS table where Brand Partners can enter to win prizes by donating. Nerium also promotes a nationwide bowling for kids fundraising event, where Brand Partners gather locally to bowl and raise money for BBBS.
