Since 2003, Amway has directed its people-centric Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts toward improving the lives of children around the world. The company’s annual CSR report for 2012 revealed that 10 million children have now been impacted through the Amway One by One Campaign for Children.
One by One grew out of the charitable work Amway employees and business owners were already engaging in worldwide. When the company’s leadership began exploring ways to focus CSR efforts and gauge impact, they found that over half of ongoing efforts were aimed at helping children. The One by One Campaign places the mission of improving children’s lives front and center, guiding volunteers in their work with 100-plus charity partners each year.
Projects range from amassing volunteers to build 1,200 bikes for local children to Amway’s work through the Clinton Global Initiative to build 2,000 additional Spring Sprouts Kitchens in rural China. The kitchens provide warm, fresh food and help children and their families learn to prepare nutritious meals.
The company is celebrating Amway Universal Children’s Day on Nov. 20 and encouraging all of its employees and business owners to embrace a children’s cause in their communities on that day. Candace Matthews, Global Chief Marketing Officer of Amway, shares more on how the company is Helping Children Live Better Lives in her recent Top Desk for DSN.
